Actor Anthony Rapp appeared on The Talk on Friday and spoke for the first time about the landmark BuzzFeed article that first discussed his allegations of sexual misconduct against actor Kevin Spacey.
During the interview, Rapp said that he felt compelled to share his story to empower others.
“I could only tell my story, but I knew there were more stories,” Rapp said. “So I was just hopeful that coming forward, it would encourage other people to tell the truth.”
He added, “I knew it was a risky thing, I knew that he was very popular, and certainly a respected actor, but at the same time I knew I was trying to protect people. And I was incredibly gratified by the enormous wave of support.”
The bombshell allegations led to Spacey being written out of the final season of Netflix’s House of Cards. After Rapp’s story with Spacey, other people came forward with stories of sexual misconduct by the actor.
