Debra Messing: I ‘Regret Going On’ Megyn Kelly’s Show

· Updated on May 28, 2018

In preparation to write this post, I fell down a bit of a Megyn Kelly Today YouTube hole as the video-sharing site auto-played one clip from the former Fox News anchor’s new NBC morning show to the next. Eventually, I landed on her stilted, “Hello, fellow humans!” opening monologue in which she tells the studio audience that the 2016 electionthe results of which her anti-black, anti-immigrant, anti-any Santa but a white Santa fearmongering played no small part inmade her feel bad, so she’s “done with politics for now.”

Flames! On the side of my face! Breathing! Breathe Heaving breaths! I regret every second I wasted watching this failed experiment in reptilian relatability!!!! Which is to say that Debra Messing and I have at least one thing in common. She, too, has some Megyn Kelly-related regrets, according to Entertainment Tonight.

On Monday, Messing and the rest of the Will & Grace cast appeared on Megyn Kelly Today to promote the revival of the Emmy Award-winning show. The host said some pretty weird things that rubbed a lot of viewers the wrong way, like jokingly asking a Will & Grace super fan if he “became gay” because he watched the show, adding that she thinks “the gay thing” is going to work out for him. This prompted some of Messing’s fans to hit her up on Instagram to find out why she was there in the first place.

“But why did you guys do the Megyn Kelly show?” asked one of her followers in a comment on a picture ofa bowl ofcucumber slices? Ok! Cucumber slices. “That’s a fail!!”

“[H]onestly[,] I didn’t know it was [Megyn Kelly] until that morning,” Messing replied. “The itinerary just said Today Show appearance. [I r]egret going on. [I’m d]ismayed by her comments.”

See?? She hated it, too. Now let’s never speak about any of this again.
