Throughout Pride Month, Billboard does an awesome series with celebrities and musical artists where they write a love letter to the LGBTQ community. On Thursday, June 14th, Billboard published the love letter from singer/songwriter/Broadway star Jason Mraz. Each letter is slightly different and this one was structured in a poem.

After Mraz talks about being inspired by the LGBTQ community, he ends the poem with “I am bi your side. All ways.”

Is this him officially coming out as bisexual? The play on words with “bi” instead of “by” is one thing, but the second part could also be interpreted as a riff on “I go both ways.”

Jason Mraz’s sexuality has been a topic of speculation for a while now — since back in 2005, when he said he was “bisexually open-minded.” For a while, Mraz has had a laissez-faire attitude towards discussing his sexuality.

In a 2010 interview with Pride Source, he simply said that he learned he didn’t like people with facial or chest hair. When asked if he was still “bisexually open-minded,” he said it was still an option, but he was happy with his current relationship. Regardless of his sexuality, the way the poem was written makes it seem like he doesn’t consider himself a part of the LGBTQ community — which is fine. He might feel that as someone who is married to a woman and has never had a relationship with a man, he doesn’t feel comfortable taking up space.
