On Thursday night, CNN anchor Don Lemon gained the adoration of the internet as he blatantly called out racism several times during his telecast.

First, Lemon out-and-out began a segment by saying, “The president of the United States is a racist.”

Lemon’s comments came after Trump called several developing and developed nations “shitholes,” while also disparaging immigrants from these countries, including Haiti, who come to America.

Later, while discussing the president’s remarks with a panel that included the New York Times columnist Charles Blow and John Fredericks, a former Trump campaign co-chair in Virginia, Lemon interrupted Fredericks after he openly insulted Lemon for his comments about racism. Fredericks called Lemon’s rhetoric “easy and lazy.”

“Can we cut him off? Can we take him off the screen?” Lemon asked a producer offscreen. As Fredericks was removed from view, Lemon added: “I was going to let him speak, until you doubly insulted me. I don’t even need to respond to the ‘lazy’ comment.”

He added, “We can have this conversation, and we don’t need someone who’s going to make excuses for racism.”

After his small barbs, Lemon went off in a larger rant directed to Trump’s supporters.

“This is for anyone who may be taken aback by my comments: I don’t really care if you are. I hope you are,” Lemon said.

“For years, I and others have been trying to tell you, the American people, that this man has been exhibiting bigoted behavior. I’ve asked him about it a number of times, and he denied, but kept up the racist rhetoric throughout the campaign and now while he’s in the White House,” he said. “His supporters made excuses, continue to make excuses for him. Some of them are his friends, and I can hear them now, telling me: ‘Donald didn’t mean that,’ ‘Donald isn’t a racist,’ ‘I think it was taken out of context.’… How many examples do you need of this? But he is a racist.”

He also invited people who deny Trump’s racism to “go read a history book.”
Lemon, this is great and everything and Imma let you finish, but do you have anything to say about smelling marijuana in the air in Ferguson, Missouri?
