Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova, but your dad just calls her Katya, is taking a break.
In an Instagram Live video, Brian McCook, the person behind Katya, announced that he will be taking a break from working as Katya in order to focus on his mental health. During the stream, Katya spoke in French, but Redditors have translated the speech.

“I’m a language student first, an artist second, a drag queen third,” McCook said during his broadcast. “Health is the most important thing for me.”
He continued, “I’m ok. I’m not dying because I want to live. But I need to take vacations, like a normal person. The people who are listening will understand, can understand. And that’s all I wanted to say, that’s all.”

Katya has spoken openly in the past about her mental health and her history of substance abuse. However, McCook made it clear that this was not the case right now.
“I don’t have a drug crisis right now, because I’m sober,” Katya said. “I’m taking care of myself today. And that is the reason why I’m happy.”
Katya and Trixie’s Viceland show The Trixie & Katya Show, adapted from their hit YouTube series, debuted in November.
