Dua Lipa Got The Respect She Deserves At The 2018 Brit Awards

· Updated on May 28, 2018

I’ve got new rules, I count ‘em:

One, agree that Dua Lipa is good!

Thank you for abiding by the new rules, the 2018 Brit Awards.

Dua Lipa did pretty well for herself at last night’s Brit Awards, which I believe is basically the U.K. equivalent of the Grammys aaaaaaand Google confirms it. The Guardian reports that the “New Rules” singer took home British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act, tying with Stormzy, who won British Album of the Year and British Male Solo Artist, for most wins of the night.

“I want to thank every single female who’s been on this stage before me that has given girls like menot just girls in the music industry, but girls in societya place to be, [a person] to be inspired by [and] look up to, and [who] have allowed us to dream this big,” she said while accepting her British Female Solo Artist award.

“Here’s to more women on these stages, more women winning awards, and more women taking over the world.”

Along with her pair of wins, Dua was given a stage to perform her 2017 summer jam “New Rules.” More than a stage, she was given a capital b Budget to bring the “New Rules” music video to life.

Yeah, the whole affected/disaffected choreo doesn’t play as smoothly without the video’s camerawork, but still! This could be us, rest of America! This could be us!
