From Britney Spears and Madonna’s infamous smooch at the 2003 VMAs to Lil Nas X and Bad Bunny making out with their backup dancers, queer kisses have become something of a staple for musical performances. Now, singer-songwriter FKA twigs and model Cara Delevingne are the latest celebs to carry on the tradition.
At Vogue World: London on Thursday, FKA twigs was one of the night’s first live performers with a cover of “It’s A Fine Day” by eclectic ‘90s group Opus III. During the number, a mohawk-rocking Delevingne stormed the stage and shared a kiss with Twigs, whose dancers literally had to tear the women off of each other.
Check it out for yourself around the 1:20 mark.
Delevingne has been extremely open about her pansexual identity, while Twigs has never publicly come out as queer. But regardless of either superstar’s sexuality, their surprise kiss was enough to have the internet up in arms.
But not everyone is Delevingne’s biggest fan. Her bizarre behavior at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards — namely following Megan Thee Stallion around the event and creeping on her from around corners — put lots of people off.
So it’s no surprise that they’re not happy to see her and Twigs anywhere near each other.
Questionable kisses aside, Twigs killed the performance — and really, how could the person who gave us “cellophane” ever do wrong?
