Wally West, also known as Kid Flash, is taking off his running shoes for a while. Actor Keiynan Lonsdale, who played the speedster on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, announced via Instagram that he would be taking a step back from the two shows.
“It’s definitely not a total goodbye,” Lonsdale writes in his caption. “cause Wally West will still be round when you need him the most!” Lonsdale clarified that Kid Flash isn’t going away forever, just leaving his full time status on the show.
“I’ve changed a lot in the past year (as you’ve probably noticed),” Lonsdale continues, “and for infinite reasons my perspective on life & what I want from it now is just completely different.” One change that Lonsdale has undergone over the last year is that he came out in May 2017.

The Australian actor also landed his first big role in a major motion picture, Love, Simon, which premiered in March 2018. Given that he was one of the breakout stars from the film, it could be that Lonsdale wants to free his schedule to focus more on film roles.
