What is the sound of silence? It might sound something like Lorde’s VMA performance.
During the VMA ceremony, singer Lorde chose to keep her mouth shut and dance around the stage rather than serve live vocals. The choice was controversial, to say the least, and Twitter let their unproblematic fave know that they were not here for it.

At least a few accounts, including Complex, pointed out that Lorde had the flu and couldn’t serve vocals, which is why she danced around the stage.
