· Updated on May 27, 2018

A new romantic comedy from The Craft director Andrew Fleming will star Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan as a gay couple. The movie, Ideal Home, is a modern take on the classic “son you didn’t know you had shows up at your door” tale.

Coogan plays ostentatious celebrity chef Erasmusbasically the Phantom Thread of the culinary artswho leads an extravagant, quarrelsome lifestyle alongside his bearded husband, Paul (Rudd). The couple’s lives get turned upside down when Erasmus’s grandson, who he didn’t know existed, turns up unannounced at one of their lavish dinner parties. Erasmus and Paul decide to take the child incue the tears and hearty chuckles.

Ideal Home will mark the third film Coogan and Rudd have worked on together, the first being Night at the Museum and Our Idiot Brother, and also stars Allison Pill, Jesse Luken, and Jack Gore. The movie sounds like a fun, nuanced take on an age-old narrative cliché.

Fleming’s film premiered in Sydney at the 2018 Mardi Gras Film Festival in February, but hits theaters June 21st.
