Written by, directed by, and starring Kit Williamson, the show follows a group of friends living in Silver Lake as they deal with abortions, dysfunctional families, and open relationships. The cast, including Van Hansis, Constance Wu, and Willam Belli, is an ensemble of diverse characters, LGBTQ and allied alike.

The show has received six Emmy nods, including Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Writing and Directing for Williamson. It’s the first time the Academy has recognized Writing and Directing for Digital Series.

“It’s amazing to receive this many nominations in our third season, and it’s a testament to the hard work of this incredible cast and crew,” Williamson says. “Congratulations to our fellow nominees! We are so grateful to the National Academy of Arts and Sciences for this honor, and to Wolfe Video and Netflix for bringing the show to a global audience.”

In addition, Williamson’s costar Van Hansis received a nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Digital Daytime Drama Series. Supporting Actor nominations also went to Stephen Guarino and John Halbach, who’s also Williamson’s husband and producing partner.

“I’m so incredibly excited that EastSiders received six nominations, and the fact that one of them is for me as Supporting Actor is icing on the cake,” says Halbach. “We’re a small, independent production, and this recognition and platform means the world. I’m very proud of the show and everyone’s work on it, and hopefully moments like this help more viewers discover us and give us a watch on Netflix.”
