It’s the biggest queer film of the year. Luca Guadagnino’s highly-anticipated adaptation of André Aciman’s novel, Call Me by Your Name more than lived up to the hype. With its ‘80s nostalgia, Italian vistas, and queer coming of age/sexual awakening, it’s cinematic gold. But as great as Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet are, perhaps they got the casting wrong?

A new fan-made trailer by Mikey Heller, cartoonist, comedian, and head writer of Cartoon Network’s We Bare Bears, reimagines the new queer classic with some familiar faces. That’s right, Sully and Mike of Monsters, Inc. fame have found their newest roles, after a four-year hiatus since Monsters University. The mashed-up trailer puts footage from the 2013 Pixar sequel to dialogue from the Call Me by Your Name trailer.

We have to admit, not only is Sully finally living up to our somewhat confusing adolescent bear fantasies. But Mike and Sully are the queer love story that Disney never let happen. Monsters, Inc. was basically a low-key story about a gay couple who adopts a human child but has to keep her a secret because they were totally in the closet. That’s why Mike kept up the charade with that Jennifer Tilly-voiced Cyclops/Medusa chick that he so obviously wasn’t interested in.

Perhaps we can count on Disney giving Mike and Sully the romance trilogy they deserve? And if John Goodman isn’t around, we can certainly vouch for Armie Hammer’s vocal chops as Sully. If this fan-made trailer isn’t enough to convince you of that, just give the Call Me by Your Name audio book (narrated by Hammer) a listen. You’ll discover a whole new appreciation for literature.

If Call Me by Your Name doesn’t win the Oscar it deserves, we’re at least betting on Monster’s Inc. 3 to take home gold. Watch the trailer below:
