Vanessa ‘Vanjie’ Mateo’s ‘Miss Vanjie’ Meme Is the Victory She Deserves

In only one 90-minute show (two hours if you count Untucked), drag queen Vanessa Vanjie Mateo left quite an impact on Drag Race fans. As I wrote in my episode one recap, her unapologetic bold commentary made her a favorite and she dispensed enough one-liners per minute to qualify for a Jasmine Masters video.

The most iconic one liner may have been the repetition of her name, “Miss Vanjie,” as she exited the runway after her loss to Kalorie Karbdashian-Williams. “Miss Vanjie” has already taken on a life of its own.
