December just got hot with a new video from VELO. The queer Latin rapper just released the video for “Cruzin” with Rhea Litre. The sexy video features the duo getting down and dirty about cruising and sex, appropriate for the artist known for such tracks as “Big Dick Daddy” and “Oye Papi.”
The video recently premiered onBillboard, including an interview with the duo. Litre discussed how mainstream pop culture has embraced drag with the popularity of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
“I think we all owe the show some props for putting what we do on the map,” she says. “But it is not the be all end all. Frankly, I think that the next drag queen that takes over pop culture won’t come from Drag Race.”
For VELO, he hopes the Latin queer community will make a similar rise within mainstream media. His next album is will be in Spanish, featuring Litre, Pablo Hernandez, Boomer Banks, and Jaremi Carey (Phi Phi O’Hara).
“There needs to be a greater presence,” he says. “Maybe that will change with exposure. I would love to be a part of that movement. We have a growing presence that can’t be ignored or overlooked for long.”
