Watch This Emotional First Look At the ‘Sense8’ Finale Special

With the overwhelming prevalence of streaming sites as a viable and relevant platform, a handful of shows have surpassed our expectations to become instant fan favorites.

But one such show is Netflix’s Wachowski sister-helmed sci-fi series, Sense8. With an epic and original plot that explores intersectionality and never shies away from sexual representation, audiences (queer especially) have been hooked from the start.

That’s why fans were devastated this May when Netflix CEO Reed Hastings announced the show’s cancellation after just two seasons. It was one of many Netflix shows to hit the chopping block, including GirlBoss, Marco Polo, and The Get Down.

“Our hit ratio is way too high now,” Hastings confusingly explained following the cancellation. “We’ve cancelled very few shows. I’m always pushing the content team: we have to take more risks, you have to try more crazy things. Because we should have a higher cancel rate overall.”

But fans rallied around the show and demanded it return for another season, including an offer to revive the show by streaming porn site, xHamster. Although a third season is not likely, a finale special was announced, which was still a success. Lana Wachowski took to social media with an open letter to express her thanks to the fans for fighting for the show.

Now we officially have a first look at the upcoming finale special.

Although the video is less than two minutes, it’s packed with behind-the-scenes action, adorable cast moments, and their personal testimonials about the show’s impact on the world. Daryl Hannah even considers the show’s fans to be part of their cluster, which is enough to make any sensate weep like a baby.
