Thanks to this clip, Ayo Edebiri fans can’t wait until Inside Out 2 comes out.
Ayo Edebiri’s talent is something to be envious of. The actress, comedian, and television writer has made a huge name for herself over the past few years with roles in Theater Camp, Bottoms, and, most notably, her award-winning role as Sydney Adamu in The Bear. Now her acting chops are going animated this summer in the upcoming film Inside Out 2.
Entertainment with an edge
Whether you’re into indie comics, groundbreaking music, or queer cinema, we’re here to keep you in the loop twice a week.
While the first coming-of-age film in the franchise introduced us to a young child named Riley and her emotions Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Bill Hader, now played by Tony Hale), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling, now played by Liza Lapira), now, as a newly minted teen, Riley’s emotional state undergoes a sudden revamp. Now, she has a new cadre of emotions to wrestle with, as do her current ones.
So far, those new emotions include Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos), Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser), Nostalgia (June Squibb), and Envy (Edebiri). With Edebiri taking on the green anthropomorphic character, fans are rightfully excited. But after this behind-the-scenes clip, fans can’t wait to see Edebiri in action.
The clip is a montage of Edebiri recording lines for Envy. From nervous laughter to intense yelling, all the way to, well, being envious, Edebiri brings Envy to life. And, in your wondering, the internet agrees.
Not to mention, Edebiri stays in her bag when it comes to voice acting. She plays Missy in Netflix’s Big Mouth, voiced April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and portrayed Glory Grant in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Inside Out 2 already had social media in a frenzy due to the introduction of new character Valentina “Val” Ortiz, played by Lilimar, who Riley is instantly smitten by. While Riley’s attraction to Val might be platonic or something more remains to be seen. But the commentary about the dynamic between these two continues on.
Inside Out 2 premieres on June 14.
