Starring on Broadway is Michelle Williams’ destiny, child.
The Destiny’s Child alum (and iconic singer in her own right) is taking on the role of Viola Van Horn in a musical adaptation of Death Becomes Her, the 1992 camp classic movie about two glamorous rivals discovering the dark side of immortality. Viola Van Horn is an updated version of the character Lisle Von Rhuman, who, in the film, introduces Madeline Ashton and Helen Sharp (originally played by Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn) to the immortality potion that sets the plot in motion.
The musical is opening on Broadway this fall, but it’s currently completing a run in Chicago, producing a viral clip of Williams belting the roof off the theater during a solo number. Naturally, the gays are obsessed, whether they’re Broadway buffs, Destiny’s Child stans, or both.

Some fans pointed out that Williams’s outstanding vocal performance is just further proof of the power of Destiny’s Child. Any group that could produce both Williams, Kelly Rowland, and Beyoncé is the stuff of legends.
DC really could’ve been a opera group these ladies and their vocals

Williams has performed on Broadway before, but her next appearance will be her first time originating a role, a fact that she told ABC Chicago has her especially amped to take the show to Broadway.
“I’m so excited, especially originating a role,” she said. “A lot of other Broadway musicals that I’ve done have already been put on its feet.”
She also said she’s a fan of the original movie, which she called “absolutely hilarious when you think about it.”
“It’s just kind of funny when you hear the inner dialogue that people have concerns about,” Williams continued.
