‘Young Royals’ fans are in a frenzy after a new clip from the final season

Young Royals is coming back with a bang.

In the first two seasons of the hit Netflix series, Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Edvin Ryding) falls for Simon (Omar Rudberg), his boarding school classmate. The two navigate the ups and downs, brought both by royal expectations and standard boarding school drama, including a love triangle in Season 2. But at the end of the season, the show’s central couple was back together, and Wilhelm even went against his parents wishes and publicly declared his love for Simon.

That romantic decision is sure to have repercussions in the upcoming third and final season of Young Royals. Fans don’t know much about the season yet, but a newly released clip has some hints.

The scene shows a happy moment between Wilhelm and Simon, who is apparently visiting Wilhelm’s home. The circumstances of the visit sound less than ideal, though: “I can’t believe that you are here,” Wilhelm says.

“Me neither,” Simon replies. “I just wish it wasn’t for that reason.” What he means by “that reason” is anyone’s guess.

At the end of the clip, Wilhelm remarks that this wasn’t how he dreamed things would be.

“What was your dream?” Simon asks.

“I can … show you,” Wilhem says through a haze of sly smirks and meaningful glances. The two head off together hand in hand, showing off the chemistry that makes Young Royals so popular.

Though Wilhelm and Simon are happy, Season 3 clearly won’t all be smooth sailing. By the finale, we’ll see if love is enough to keep the couple together, or if the pressures of royalty will stop Wilhelm and Simon from becoming endgame.

In the meantime, viewers couldn’t be more excited by this sneak peek. As they shared on X (formerly Twitter), fans are crying, passing out, and screaming uncontrollably. Y’know, typical stan behavior.

The final season of Young Royals is set to release in 2024.
