Ron “Don’t Say Gay” DeSantis mocked for touting his supposed latest achievement

One of Ron DeSantis’ latest tweets has prompted a swift backlash online. The Florida Governor tweeted on Wednesday, “I am awarding more than $28 million to expand Florida’s semiconductor and chip manufacturing through the Job Growth Grant Fund. These awards will create high-paying jobs for Floridians in growing, high-demand fields while also supporting our state’s economic future.”

Sounds good, right? Especially from a Governor who has faced criticism over the amount of time he has spent out-of-state in recent months.

However, many were quick to point out one thing. The $28 million came after Joe Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act in August 2022. The legislation wants to boost US semiconductor research and production to ensure it stays competitive with China. This investment comes about as a direct result of CHIPS.

The response to DeSantis’ tweet was brutal.

Fight We Must

A pre-Thanksgiving tweet posted by Ron’s wife, Casey DeSantis, also prompted some blowback.

Mrs DeSantis posted a photo of her and two of her young children. She said, “Earning every vote… Fighting for our future… #FightWeMust” She also wore a top with the slogan ‘Fight We Must’ across its back (maybe this is her rival to Melania Trump’s #BeBest).

Online, many asked when the DeSantis’ would be heading back to Florida… and whether they could cut back a little on the photo ops with their kids.

Ron DeSantis’ campaign to become the Republican nominee has spluttered since it was first announced. In a recent poll of respondents in Iowa, where the first Republican primary will be held, Trump leads both DeSantis and Nikki Haley by around 27 points.
