A video highlighting some of Walmart’s holiday decorations has quickly notched up millions of views within 48 hours.
TikTok and Instagram creator ChezAidan took to his local Walmart to show ornaments featuring pairs of Cardinal birds. Casual observers might assume the pairs, which are both bright red in color, were romantic couplings.
“I don’t think Walmart did their research on the difference between male and female Cardinal birds,” says Aidan.
In fact, only male Cardinal birds are bright red. The female birds are less dazzling and pale brown in color.

“THEY’RE ROOMMATES,” suggested one responder, earning over 337k likes.
“Historians will say they were best friends,” quipped another, with someone else suggesting, “They are just roommates. You know, like Bert and Ernie…”
It turns out that pairs of male Cardinals have graced holiday decor for decades.
“My mom used to be an avid birder (and cardinals are my fave) so I’ve been hearing about gay cardinal decor for approximately thirty years,” revealed another responder.
“I bought my grandma a gay cardinal centerpiece as a silent act of rebellion a few years back,” said someone on Instagram.
Anyway, we think the red cardinal lovebirds are kinda sweet, and almost as amusing as that horrendous, unofficial RuPaul tree bauble from a few years back…
So someone on my timeline posted that they got this @RuPaul Christmas ornament from Wish. And that they were upset with it. I can see why! It looks like Jennifer Holiday in mid performance! 😂 😂 😂 pic.twitter.com/dsof924lOT
