Adam Rippon Doesn’t Want Us To Make His Olympic Experience ‘About Mike Pence’

· Updated on May 28, 2018

We’ve had a lot of fun over the past couple months talking about how much Mike Pence sucks and how great it is whenever Adam Rippon reminds us of how much Mike Pence sucks.

But it looks like sharing headlines with one of the worst people in the world hasn’t been all fun and games for the Olympic figure skater.

Rippon told reporters late Tuesday night that despite his outspokenness, he doesn’t want his experience at the 2018 Winter Olympics to be centered on our terrible Vice President.

“I have no problem talking about what I’ve said because I stand by it, but I think right now the Olympics are about the Olympic competition and the athletes involved,” said Rippon, per ABC News. “I don’t want to distract from them, and I don’t want my Olympic experience to be about Mike Pence. I want it to be about my amazing skating and being America’s sweetheart.”

Fair!

Rippon is an amazing figure skater (he and the rest of the U.S. team in Pyeongchang earned bronze a few days ago) and he’s definitely a strong contender for America’s sweetheart (that Reese Witherspoon dedication? Goodbye!).

We don’t have to bring up Mike Pence (who looks like he puts sprinkles on his yogurt and calls it “a wild ride”) to talk about either of those things.
