It’s become a tradition for Ariana Grande and her Victorious co-star Liz Gillies to deliver a next-level couples costume on Halloween, and this year’s didn’t disappoint.
Grande and Gillies paid tribute to Showgirls, the ‘90s camp classic about the cutthroat world of Las Vegas showgirls. Grande assumed the role of Nomi Malone, the newbie stripper played by Elizabeth Berkley in the film, while Gillies became Cristal Connors, her jaded mentor and frenemy, originally played by Gina Gershon.
The pair flawlessly recreated a number of costumes from the movie, which they showed off in a photoshoot worthy of the Vegas strip. Gillies referenced several of Showgirls’ most quotable lines in her captions, including “You and me…we’re exactly alike,” “You are a whore, darlin’!”, and of course, “There’s always someone younger and hungrier coming down the stairs after you.” Words to live by.
To top it off, Grande and Gillies showed off their acting chops by recreating an iconic scene from the movie. It’s a reminder that these two got their starts on Broadway (and that Liz Gillies is woefully underrated). Where’s the remake starring these two? The stuff writes itself!
Ssooooo…. can we get a reboot with them as the leads or—— nicky (@nichoIasdante) October 31, 2023
Over on TikTok, Gillies also shared a behind-the-scenes video where both she and Grande got the giggles.

Last year, Grande and Gillies dressed as Jane Lynch and Jennifer Coolidge in Best in Show, another pitch-perfect recreation. Did they manage to top it this year? It’s a close call.
Grande and Gillies aren’t the only celebs paying homage to cult classics this Halloween. Christina Aguilera took inspiration from her own movie Burlesque, but she took on Cher’s part instead of her own.
And Kim Kardashian channeled a different Cher: Cher Horowitz from Clueless, with her daughter North West playing Dionne. Across the board, this year’s costumes came through.
From Halloween icons to incestuous video game characters, our favorite celebrities showed up and showed out this Halloween.
