A new feature length documentary highlighting trans activist and model Munroe Bergdorf has been in development for three years, and now we’ve got our biggest update. The film, which Bergdorf has called “a love letter to our global trans community,” is headed for the silver screen this summer.
Titled Love & Rage: Munroe Bergdorf and directed by Olivia Cappuccini (known for the Andy Murray documentary Resurfacing), the film will explore the challenges Bergdorf has faced in the spotlight and how she has found her voice in advocating for others.

Season 8 also comes with Carpenter’s own Dance Emote, which players can perform in sync with friends.
Throughout her career, Bergdorf has straddled two worlds, becoming the first trans model to front a L’Oreal campaign (though the brand’s cowardice led to her being dropped) and being appointed the LGBT adviser to the Labour Party in 2018. Likewise, the film will reportedly take a dual narrative approach, intertwining Bergdorf’s memories with the present day.

“Trailblazing model and trans activist Munroe Bergdorf is confronted by her past when she begins to write the story of her life,” the official description from Universal Pictures Content Group reads.
“While the pain of growing up in a society that silenced and punished her identity bleeds into the present of her life in the public eye, can she overcome her past and become a much needed voice for her community, in an increasingly hostile environment?”
Announcing the film back in October, Bergdorf said that the intimate and grueling process of filming over three years was worth it for the end result.
“Making this film completely pushed me out of my comfort zone – personally, creatively and professionally,” Bergdorf wrote on Instagram. “I consider myself to be a pretty private person, but in this film I let you in fully. I wanted it to feel raw, intimate, honest, unflinching and hopeful.
“The past 3 years have been a rollercoaster filled with so many formative moments, in both my public and personal life. But this is more than just a film about me…
“This documentary is very much a love letter to our global trans community. It is a call for change within a world where transphobia has become the status quo.
“I’m immensely proud of what we’ve created, it’s been a wild, wild ride and I can’t wait for it to be out in the world.”
Love & Rage: Munroe Bergdorf will hit theaters just in time for Pride month this June.
