That’s certainly what Charli XCX was giving with her recent Variety Hitmakers red carpet look.
Taking a page from Janelle Monáe’s book (the best book) Charli stunned fans by showing up high as hell in a sheer, taupe-colored Saint Laurent dress. And the gays—the most appreciative audience for nips-out eveningwear—are losing it.
She brings that “I don’t really want to be here but since I’m here I might as well turn it out” vibe to the functio.

Basically the girls are making it clear that no matter how depressing the coming year promises to be, they’ll be keeping the spirit of Brat summer alive through the power of drugs and couture. And for this we remain grateful, if unworthy.
