Despite neither actress coming home with a trophy, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were the undeniable stars of last night’s Oscar Awards. The two stars of Wicked opened the ceremony with a jaw-dropping medley of hits from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and, of course, Wicked itself. But even before their performance, the two proved once again that they’re an unstoppable (platonic) power couple, with Erivo even agreeing that she and Grande share something “more concrete than marriage.”
On the red carpet, Erivo was interviewed by Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg (who’s previously made headlines for flirting with the likes of SZA and Billie Eilish). Ahead of Erivo and Grande’s performance, Dimoldenberg brought up one of the most infamous aspects of the duo’s relationship: “You have matching tattoos with her, don’t you?” she asked.
“I do,” Erivo replied with a smile. She then suggested that Dimoldenberg get a heart tattooed on her chest to match as well, saying, “Then we’d be, like, really dating.”
“I actually feel like getting a tattoo is more concrete than, like, marriage,” Dimoldenberg reasoned.

“I think so too,” Erivo agreed. “It’s life-lasting. It’s forever.”
Fans couldn’t help but follow Erivo’s logic to its natural conclusion. If Erivo agrees that matching tattoos are a bond more solid than marriage, what do her four matching tattoos with Grande mean?
Related“I wish I could unsee some things,” Grande said. “I mean, wow, I had a feeling, but I didn’t know it would be on this scale or this graphic.”His meet-cute with husband Raúl is straight out of a rom-com.
The Wicked stars had plenty of other touching moments throughout the night. Erivo’s makeup artist Joanna Simkin shared on Instagram that just seconds before taking the stage for their performance, Erivo and Grande were holding hands backstage.
The performance itself also had fans of the duo swooning, from a gentle kiss on the hand during “Defying Gravity” to a look of admiration from Grande so full of love for Erivo that fans could feel it through the screen.
