Doechii shouts out this flawless drag recreation of her “Denial is a River” dance

Rising rap superstar Doechii proved she was a fierce fan of drag with her recent guest judge appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race (and gave us an iconic lip sync battle, to boot). Now, she’s proved her love for drag goes beyond reality TV; in fact, it stretches all the way to the Philippines.

On social media, Doechii shouted out three Filipino drag queens who paid homage to one of her most iconic performances. The queens in question, Kiara, O-A, and Drag Race Philippines alum Zymba Ding, delivered their own version of Doechii’s performance from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she danced and rapped to a mash-up of the songs “Boiled Peanuts” and “Denial is a River” from her Grammy-winning mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal. The songs are amazing on their own, of course, but it was Doechii’s clever choreography, which saw her linked to two other dancers by their braids, that made the performance one for the history books.

Enter Kiara, O-A, and Zymba, who recreated the performance’s looks, hair, and choreography — along with, naturally, a tight lip sync to Doechii’s Late Show mash-up. When a video of their rendition made its way to Doechii on X, she quickly sang the trio’s praises. “This is soooo good I’m so proud of them 😭,” she wrote. “These Queens ate from beginning to end.”

The queens reacted to the shoutout on their own socials. In response to Doechii’s post, O-A simply wrote, “MAJORRRRRR.”

Zymba, meanwhile, is no stranger to celebrity shout outs. At the end of last year, she caught SZA’s attention by bringing her SOS Deluxe: LANA album cover to life with full alien drag. Now, having been noticed by Doechii, too, she sent love back to both music icons: “They’re so generous 🥹,” Zymba wrote.

Check out Kiari, O-A, and Zymba’s full performance below.
