Gay For Gambit

Fans want this thirst-trapping ‘X-Men ’97’ actor to bring his looks to live action

Since premiering last month on Disney+, the animated series X-Men ‘97 has caught flak from conservatives for being too “woke” and for queering its characters. In other words, it’s a fabulous X-Men adaptation — including its casting for superhero Gambit, which has fans thirsty for more.

Gambit is voiced by actor A.J. LoCascio, whose performance proves he can deliver when it comes to acting. Now, a new thirst-trapping selfie has fans convinced he could sell the mutant’s signature look, too.

On Instagram, LoCascio posted what he called “a scuzzy mirror selfie from a random workout,” and, naturally, the gays are obsessed.

When one fan wrote that LoCascio was their “live action Gambit,” the actor responded to the attention with a simple, “lol thank you.”

And as far as fans wanting to see LoCascio reprise his role in live action, he’s more than happy to oblige. When the idea was posed to him earlier this month, he replied, “I mean… I wouldn’t say no.”

LoCascio’s already proven he can rock Gambit’s style. When he recreated the character’s viral crop top look for a panel at this year’s WonderCon, a comic and science fiction convention, a photo from the event got more than a million views on X. Again, LoCascio kept it simple with his response, writing on Instagram, “wow.”

He can pull off other characters, too. LoCascio’s an avid cosplayer, and he’s proven he’d make a great Rick O’Connell from The Mummy or a stellar Indiana Jones — whether dressed for adventure or for academia.

X-Men ‘97 is now streaming on Disney+.
