Of all the celebrities to have a hot take on Chappell Roan, Flavor Flav wasn’t at the top of anyone’s list. Nevertheless, the rapper (and former reality TV heartthrob) sounded off on Roan during the holiday special TMZ’s Merry Elfin’ Christmas.
During a discussion about Roan’s comments on fans and her viral requests for privacy from over the summer, one of the special’s hosts asked Flav if he thought Roan was making a mistake by setting boundaries with fans.
“Honestly, I do think it’s one of the biggest mistakes she can make because it’s all of the people that make her who she is to society,” Flav responded. “If people can take their time out for you, you should be able to take your time out for them.”
When asked if he ever gets tired of taking pictures with his fans, Flav added, “I get scared when nobody come up asking for a selfie. I get nervous! I’m like, ‘What did I do? I got on the right clock today?’”

But the next day, Flav took to social media to clarify the situation, revealing he didn’t know the full extent of harassment Roan was facing from strangers in public, which she told Rolling Stone included tracking her to the airport and kissing her without her consent.
“I was asked about Chappell Roan and was told that she was rude to fans. I don’t really know her or the situation and said that it’s a mistake because it’s the fans that make us who we are,” Flav wrote on X. “BUT,,, if individuals are threatening her privacy or boundaries,,, good for her to speak up,!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾We are Good and Hot to Go,!!”
In a second post, Flav gave fans even more nuance, saying without the context he has now, he’d still stand by his original comments.
“The fans make us. But these ain’t fans,” he wrote. “Predatory and stalking behavior and disrespect ain’t cool and she stood up for herself and we all have her back and stand up with her.”

Fans are thrilled at the bizarre crossover. As one user put it, “life sucks but at least flavor flav is a confirmed chappell stan.” Could a collab between the two be on the horizon? Clearly, stranger things have happened.
