Jinkx Monsoon celebrates being the namesake for Hilary Duff’s kitten

A Hilary Duff and Jinkx Monsoon crossover wasn’t on our 2025 bingo cards — but thanks to a kitten with a creative name, here we are.

Last week, the Lizzie McGuire actress posted about bringing a new feline friend home from the shelter. The cat was dubbed Jinkx Pawnsoon — a reference to the RuPaul’s Drag Race winner and Broadway star — by the cat rescue nonprofit Feline Lifeline, and as far as the internet knows, Duff left the name intact.

Duff’s husband Matthew Kona shared a picture of Jinkx (the cat, not the queen) to his Instagram story, writing, “This little girl was rescued from a parking lot the night the Eaton Fire started, thank you @felinelifelife for letting us be her new home!” Duff reshared Kona’s post to her nearly 27 million Instagram followers.

Indeed, the 10-week-old kitten was rescued by Feline Lifeline the night before the devastating Eaton wildfire began, as the rescue described in a post advertising Jinkx for adoption. “Friendly and affectionate, she came running out of the nearby brush when the feeder arrived, essentially begging for a rescue,” it wrote.

Now, back to the human Jinkx. Monsoon saw an article about the adoption and reshared it on X, writing, “Hilary Duff rescued a kitten named Jinkx Pawnsoon?! 😭😭😭🖤🖤🖤” 

“Shoutout to Feline Lifeline in Los Angeles 🖤,” she added in a reply.

Monsoon’s fans celebrated the adorable news, a bright spot in a news cycle dominated by negativity. “GET HER ON DRAG RACE NOW,” one commenter demanded. Whether they’re referring to Duff or to her kitten isn’t clear — but hey, why not both?
