Joe Locke blames having “too big of a bum” for this Agatha All Along gaffe

Agatha All Along has finally reached the end of its Witches’ Road, and with it, we say goodbye (for now) to Joe Locke as Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan. In the series’ two-episode finale, Locke donned his character’s iconic supersuit — but to hear the Heartstopper star tell it, the costume was no match for the power of his posterior.

The story comes from a new interview with Deadline, where Locked was asked if he had a favorite costume from the show.

“I’ve been asked this question so many times, and I kept saying, my Road kit, but obviously my favorite costume was my Wiccan costume,” Locke said. “Like, you can’t ever get cooler than that. It’s just such an incredibly put together costume. […] It was a half an hour to go pee kind of costume because it was so tight.”

Locke explained that there were three versions made of the costume: one “normal” version for him, one stunt version for him, and one version for his stunt double. But not all the versions made it through filming intact, he said, and apparently his booty is to blame.

“I was in my stunt one with all my wire stuff, my harness and stuff underneath, and I bent over, and I ripped the bum of the costume, and because my bum was too big,” Locke recalled. “Everyone was like, ‘Oh no.’ I was so stressed about it, and I was just like, ‘Oh, such a shame, everyone. I’ve just got too big of a bum.’”

Was Locke actually so caked up that his costume couldn’t survive? Not exactly. “It wasn’t really my bum,” he admitted. “It was because the harness and stuff. But I’m gonna say it’s because my arse is too big.”

The anecdote may have been a joke, but it’s not the first time Locke has drawn attention to his backside. Earlier in Agatha All Along’s airing, he directed fans to admire his ‘70s-inspired fit from the show, writing, “I can finally show off how good my ass looked in those trousers. Flat ass no more.”

This summer, he also shared pictures from a vacation to Italy on Instagram. He reshared one picture of himself lounging in a swimsuit to his story, adding the caption, “bum bum.” We love a man of few words.
