This week, Joe Locke hit our screens in his second leading TV role on Agatha All Along, with the third season of Heartstopper just around the corner. But it’s his off-screen anecdotes that are currently taking over the internet, thanks to a new interview about his do’s and don’ts for style.
In a video for British Esquire, Locke broke down his fashion both on and off-camera, from his costumes on TV to his street style. That included a pic of what Locke called his “classic outfit”: black pants, a white Loewe T-shirt, and a brown jacket.
The pants in particular caught Locke’s attention, as he recalled finding them in a thrift store for only $100 (a massive discount for the brand Marni). They were also an extra special find, he said, because they fit his hips.
“I got told by a doctor once I had very childbearing hips, which as a 13-year-old teenage boy who’s just started puberty, not the thing you want to hear,” Locke explained. “Because of my childbearing hips, I often struggle to find trousers that fit, but these Marni ones really did the job.”
Culture, unfiltered

The comment on his “childbearing hips” raised eyebrows across the internet. Folks wondered why a doctor would make that kind of invasive comment to anyone, let alone to a child.
That doctor should have never said that and especially to a 13 year old when your body is changing, basically causing body dysphoria

Several folks also thought Locke’s story sounded like the perfect line for a remix on Charli xcx’s BRAT, replacing Lorde’s iconic line from “girl, so confusing” — “You have childbearing hips; when I was 13 someone said that” has just about the same ring to it.
