Jonathan Bailey celebrated that infamous toe-sucking scene in the best way possible

From the very first episode of limited series Fellow Travelers, the world was never the same. One image — one horny, audacious, jaw-dropping image — was burned into the collective gay consciousness: Jonathan Bailey sucking on Matt Bomer’s toes.

More than a year has passed since that premiere episode of Fellow Travelers hit our screens, but the legacy of the toe-sucking scene lives on, thanks in part to Bailey’s continued enthusiasm for it.

The gay heartthrob’s latest shoutout to the scene came courtesy of a fan at the Wicked premiere in Mexico City. As Bailey walked the red carpet and interacted with fans, one thrust a poster forward for him to sign. It wasn’t a headshot, nor a poster for Wicked, but a glossy collage of two screencaps from the foot-forward Fellow Travelers scene.

Bailey, ever down to clown, happily signed the poster, then posed with it for the paps with a winning smile that has fans swooning.

Last year, Bailey discussed his initial reactions to reading the toe-sucking scene in the script.

“It was very, very precisely written down — it was as precise as it needed to be. I saw that as an incredible way to dissect power,” Bailey told The Hollywood Reporter. “I got it when I read it, and I wasn’t intimidated by it. I was just like, ‘If in the first episode that’s what we are doing, it’s going to be worth five months moving to Toronto, and it’s going to be a series that I would want to watch.’ Because not only is it incredibly complicated, not only is it really hot, it’s also something that masks as being provocative, but actually it’s really psychologically impactful and the people who get it get it.”

Given how much meaning he saw in the scene then, it’s no surprise he’s happy to keep it at the top of fans’ minds, even while promoting his next project, Wicked. The movie musical hits theaters on November 22. Check out a preview of Bailey’s character Fiyero below.
