It was nearly a year ago that sapphic superstar Reneé Rapp took to social media to announce a revolution in children’s programming: “there was a d*ke on sesame st,” she wrote in a post on X last March.
Now, with a new season of Sesame Street just around the corner, Rapp’s promise is finally coming to fruition. A trailer for the new season, which releases on Max on January 16, prominently features Rapp in all her musical glory.
The trailer sees Rapp singing all about having big feelings — alongside Cookie Monster, Elmo, and Abby, of course. The new season will also feature appearances from celebs including SZA, Jonathan Van Ness, and Samara Joy.

But for Rapp’s fans (aka, the young ex-wives), it’s all about Reneé. Amid the general excitement, one fan fantasized about what it would be like to grow up with people like Rapp on TV. “kids these days are so lucky like imagine waking up from a great nap, turning on the tv and seeing renee rapp on sesame street,” she wrote.

“Dude, so underrated,” Rapp said. “But my b*tch is getting recognition now, so it better not be underrated in two weeks.”
Others fawned over Rapp’s vocals and look for the episode. “there’s no reason you need to look this fine for a sesame street episode,” one fan posted.
And of course, seeing Rapp’s promise get fulfilled 10 months later is a fabulous full-circle moment.
