The fourth attempt at a fantastic four film is nearly here, and given how the gays are reacting, the fourth time might just be the charm. The latest trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has dropped, and it gives fans their first look at Pedro Pascal in superhero tights.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps stars Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mister Fantastic) the highly flexible daddy of the Richards family. In the official teaser, we see the family coming together both out of costume—in a retro-futuristic vision of 1960s Manhattan—to deal with the past, and team up as superheroes to face a threat to Earth’s future.

The rest of the Richards clan include Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as friend of the family Ben Grimm (aka The Thing).
Some fans, however, had eyes only for Mister Fantastic.
This is now the third attempt at a new Fantastic Four franchise (the fourth film overall, including one sequel). While the mid-2000s films and the 2015 reboot bombed with audiences, the fact that The Fantastic Four: First Step is officially produced by Marvel Studios (as opposed to 20th Century Fox) has fans tentatively excited for the latest addition to the MCU. The nostalgic aesthetic doesn’t hurt either.

This film has the heroes facing off against Galactus (Ralph Ineson), Marvel’s own destroyer of worlds, and his herald, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has also previously confirmed that the Fantastic Four will appear in the upcoming MCU crossover films Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

“Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer. And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”
The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in theaters on July 25.
