As Christmas traditions go, you’d be hard pressed to find a better ritual than the yearly holiday variety show put on by drag duo Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme. And this year’s show is full of surprises—including one that even the hosts didn’t see coming. Apparently, a recent show was interrupted for several minutes as Monsoon lost it over a fart from the audience.
The Jinkx and Dela Holiday Show kicked off its 7th annual run on November 7th, and it has since passed its 150th show milestone. Each year, DeLa takes up the mantle of obnoxious holiday cheer and Monsoon takes on the role of grumpy grinch, and together they search for the Christmas spirit through a showcase of comedic performances. This year’s rendition is reportedly themed around a Nutcracker parody—or “nut-gobbler,” as DeLa calls it.

While each year also contains some kind of narrative twist, the audience at a recent show in Louisville was treated to an entirely different kind of chaos. Reddit user Jinkxsdetoxpuppet shared the moment when an audience “fart” interrupted the show.

“Truly one for the books,” they wrote in the post. “Dela kept it straight faced which made the whole thing that much better. If the show is going to be near you, it’s great as always, with an ever deeper message this year!”

Unfortunately, as filming was not allowed inside the venue, no video of the moment has surfaced as of yet. But the reddit user did capture a series of photos that show Monsoon completely breaking character, overcome with laughter.
Even if you had to be there to experience it, reddit users were living for the moment. “Becoming incapacitated by laughter at the sound of a fart is deeply relatable,” one commenter said.
“I was there!! My mom and I were cracking upppp. They put on such a great show!” another shared. “Yeah, I think the whole audience was crying with Jinkx,” the OP replied.
“I was there it was so funny lol everytime she tried to get back on track the audience would start laughing and get her going again lol,” another said.
As for the show overall, the “deeper message” the OP referred to was likely concerning the recent election. According to Billboard, the queens find a way to make the show both an escape and a call to action. At one point, Monsoon says, “I’m so tired of caring.” And DeLa responds, “I’m tired of people not caring.”
The Jinkx and Dela Holiday Show North American tour is scheduled to run through January 3.
