Have you ever thought Nick Robinson from Love, Simon looks a whole lot like Shawn Mendes? Well, it turns out that’s no coincidence.
Mendes appeared on the Elvis Duran Show Thursday and revealed that he actually considered auditioning for the role of Simon in the movie.
“You were actually either being considered for or considered auditioning for the role in Love, Simon?” asked the radio show host.
“I would’ve loved to. Unfortunately, timing didn’t work out,” the “In My Blood” singer told Duran. “That would’ve been amazing.”
The 19-year old singer-songwriter spilled that he went to see Love, Simon the night before the interviewthe same night his new single droppednoting, “Especially watching last night, Nick just did an incredible job and it was really amazing. Except for the fact that I was freaking out every two minutes, checking my phone, cause the song was coming,” he joked. “I thought going to a movie would be a relaxing thing to do!”
In addition to “In My Blood,” which was released Wednesday night, Mendes dropped another single today. “In My Blood” and “Lost in Japan” are the first songs off his upcoming third studio album. No word on a release date or album title just yet.
