As wildfires burn across the greater Los Angeles area, forcing over 130,000 people to evacuate their homes, some people are choosing to scapegoat others rather than look at the obvious cause: climate change.
A local Fox affiliate, KTTV, was reporting live on the ground when a passerby interrupted the broadcast.
“Why is there a fire happening right now?” the man asked.
“There are multiple fires that are taking place,” the reporter said in response

“Are you serious, you’re the news, though, you’re supposed to know,” the man said.
She began to respond, “Well, we don’t know how it started, you know, winds…” however she was interrupted once again.

“I think it’s all the gay people in L.A.,” the man said, prompting groans from the reporter and everyone in the studio.
“Unacceptable,” the reporter said.
The fires have destroyed over 2,000 buildings, with 29,000 acres burned due to the wildfires. The Palisades Fire, the worst of them all, saw over 17,000 acres burned.
Many LGBTQ+ people have been affected by these fires, with Runyon Canyon in Hollywood Hills, an area with a big LGBTQ+ population, being forced to evacuate.
