This country may have signed up for a four-year season in hell with the re-election of Donald Trump, but that doesn’t mean that we’re not already thinking of ways to shame, humiliate, and insult that man before he even enters office. Because one thing about America? Taking the absolute piss out of a public figure falls under freedom of speech, and we’re certainly ready to use ours to its fullest potential.

So, it would seem, are the people of Philadelphia, who recently unveiled a true political work of art.

It’s not just Philadelphia, either. In Portland, Oregon, a similar statue was mysteriously erected in late October. Both structures pay tribute to Trump’s many crimes against women and remind us that though he might be taking office in January, it’s our American right to keep reminding everyone of just who this person is.
One anonymous artist—recently profiled by The Cut—is behind it all. And his reasoning is quite interesting indeed.
Citing the concept of “resistance fatigue,” the artist explains that during the election cycle, “a lot of the most shocking things about Trump as a candidate and as a human being are things that have become kind of forgotten or numbed or normalized, and that’s very scary. So this is a way to try to bring some of those very shocking, very real, very important things into a national conversation in a fun, cheeky way.”
This interview was conducted before the election—we can only imagine the artist’s feelings in the present.
One thing is clear—the people are here for it. “I hope they are impossible to remove,” one X commenter wrote. Another hoped they were “properly installed, well-anchored, and extremely heavy.”
Amen, brother. Amen.
