It’s been six years since Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again brought iconic ABBA-inspired franchise back from the dead. Now, a new comment from Meryl Streep means the series needs another resurrection — in more ways than one.

While at the Cannes Film Festival to accept an Honorary Palme d’Or, Streep told Deadline that she hopes a third Mamma Mia! movie is on the horizon.

“Of course I want to do it. I think folks love it,” Streep said, adding that a meeting to hear proposals about  Mamma Mia! 3’s plot is “imminent.”

But there’s an elephant in the room: Streep’s character Donna Sheridan was dead as of the second movie. She appeared only briefly in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and her lack of screentime disappointed many of her fans. A third movie could give the franchise a chance to put Streep back in the spotlight — but how?

“I don’t know how they’re going to do it,” Streep said of bringing back her character. “They have an idea. I haven’t heard it yet but it’s in [my diary] and I’m going to hear about it pretty soon.”

Streep’s agent Kevin Huvane chimed in too, adding, “We’re optimistic about it.”

Fans have plenty of ideas for working around Donna’s death: Maybe she never died at all, instead faking her death to escape financial ruin. Maybe she did die, and this time she’ll appear as a ghost. Maybe she died but came back three days later to become an ABBA-infused Jesus. The possibilities are truly endless.

Ultimately, though, no one cares how they get more Streep in Mamma Mia!, as long as they get it.
