Lil Nas X fans are celebrating the rapper’s return after a hiatus. Lil Nas X released his debut album, Montero, in 2021. He released a one-off single in 2022, but his followers have been patiently awaiting the release of new music and a second album.
That confirmation came yesterday when he posted a message to social media saying, “New song and visual next week! Official art dropping soon.”

At the end of November, Lil Nas X teased fans with a snippet of a new song. He sang, “Father, stretch my hands. The lonely road seems to last the longest. Help me with my plans. Everything seems to go to nowhere.”
Entertainment with an edge
Whether you’re into indie comics, groundbreaking music, or queer cinema, we’re here to keep you in the loop twice a week.
In a caption on social media, he said, ““y’all mind if I enter my Christian era?”
That comment prompted some blowback from other, more conservative rappers.
It seems Lil Nas X is not letting the God references drop.
In a follow-up message yesterday, he had a message for those who doubted his return. He implied he’d been fighting assumptions throughout his career that he’s a one-hit-wonder, flash-in-the-pan.
“I love this constant cycle the world has with me,” he said. “When i started making music yall told me i was just another twitter rapper. then i made the biggest song of all time.
“Yall called me a one hit wonder. then i dropped one the most streamed albums of the year with 3 top 5 hits.
“Now yall saying my new shit not finna do nothing. At some point yall gotta realize I am gods favorite.”
He also said the new tune will be out on January 12th.

Other than the release date, little is known about the new track. Will it be the song he teased last November? The only further detail he’s revealed is that it will feature “a very beloved popstar who I’ve been a fan of for a long time.”
