Need It

The internet wants these leading ladies in a queer rom-com after this viral photo

The internet wants these two actress to star in a lesbian rom-com asap.

Last night, the 2024 Independent Spirit Awards took place over the weekend in Santa Monica, honoring some of Hollywood’s brightest independent creatives. Top awards went to Celine Song’s Past Lives, Jeffrey Wright in American Fiction, and the Steven Yeun and Ali Wong-led Beef. While many of the indie darlings were receiving their flowers, the internet is caught up with these two Spirit Awards’ presenters.

Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu and Golden Globe winner Quinta Brunson were a dynamic duo, as presenters at the Independent Spirit Awards. Look at the star power that these two have.

We’re always in awe of these two, but now the internet has a request for Hsu and Brunson: that they do a rom-com together.

Why hasn’t this happened yet? We don’t know, but do we need it? Like yesterday. Interestingly, these two have never crossed paths on-screen, but clearly have in person and clearly adore each other. These pictures tell a tale of two besties.

Hsu, who got her start in experimental theatre and comedy, had a meteoric rise to fame after starring in the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once. Brunson, whose comedy took over social media in the 2010s, rose to the Hollywood A-list after her show Abbott Elementary made her a household name. Now, the Internet wants these two to play opposite each other in what can only be called the lesbian love story of the century.

While the internet manifests this, can we also get Hsu to guest star on Abbott Elementary too?

Queer folks can dream, right?
