The First American Crime Story: Impeachment Trailer is Here, and It’s Serving

For everyone who’s excited about this Beanie Feldstein-Funny Girl news, this is absolutely your week. The first trailer for Ryan Murphy’s third season of “American Crime Story” just hit, and it’s bringing the Clinton era fabulously to life.

In the course of a single trailer, we get Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp betraying Monica’s confidence, Beane Feldstein as Monica herself, wielding her beret to excellent effect, and a shot of Clive Owen in a truly fantastic wig. What more could we ask for? 

Even more intriguing, however, is the fact that Monica Lewinsky herself has a producing credit right next to Feldstein. That could mean the difference between this series being just another slut-shaming or watered-down #MeToo narrative and an actual exploration—and indictment—of the power structure in 90s Washington. It will be interesting to see just the show will deal with the questions of consent, privacy, and power within the Clinton White House. Also, Edie Falco as Hillary Clinton? We’ll take it! 

The trailer also shows Linda Tripp and Monica Lewinsky enjoying a sleepover in super cute PJs. Are we going to create some kind of lesbian headcanon for them? God, I hope so. We even get the teeny tiniest glimpse of Billy Eichner as Matt Drudge, whose Drudge Report quite famously brought the scandal to light. We get character actress Margo Martindale, Colin Hanks as unnamed hot guy #2, and the cast just gets gayer from there. Judith Light? Cobie Smulders?? KATHLEEN TURNER?

Basically, this trailer is gay history and I love it.
