Heartstopper fans have been anxiously awaiting news of a fourth (and likely final) season of the beloved Netflix series, but it’s been radio silence from the streamer since Heartstopper Season 3 dropped in October. Fourth months into the agonizing wait, some fans worried the show was done for good — but series writer and creator Alice Oseman eased the fandom’s fears with a few exciting updates.
On her Tumblr account @chronicintrovert, Oseman shared an update about the Heartstopper graphic novels, which the series is based on.
“Had a little meeting with my editor, agent, and publicist yesterday about Vol 6!” Oseman wrote. “It’s still over a year away but I’m soooooo excited for the release and to have the time and energy to do LOADS and make lots of cool things happen and see lots of readers!! It’s always been so hard for me to do that for Heartstopper because I’ve always had ongoing work that I can’t take huge amounts of time away from but I won’t have that next year and that’s very exciting.”
While news about the book series is thrilling, it still left fans wondering about the fate of the TV adaptation. “The whole silence from Netflix and everyone is really making me nervous and stressing me out,” one fan wrote in reply to Oseman’s post. “Is all hope gone for a new season? ☹️”

“There is still a lot of hope, please don’t give up!” Oseman wrote back. “I can’t share any details right now, only that discussions are actively ongoing and there are many people behind the scenes who are working hard to make it happen.”

That confirmation from Oseman was enough to tide the fandom over for now, and Heartstopper lovers celebrated across social media.
In the meantime, Oseman is still actively updating the Heartstopper comic online, with new pages being uploaded to Tapas, Webtoon, and Tumblr three times a month, on the 1st, 11th, and 21st at 11 a.m. UK time. Until an official renewal, any fans desperate for more Nick and Charlie can head there for their fix — and of course, the first three season are always ripe for a rewatch.
