Good news, uglies: The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula is coming back for a fifth season on Halloween night.
On Tuesday, October 31, a brand new season of the hit horror-themed drag competition will premiere on Shudder and AMC+, with new episodes releasing weekly. After four sickening seasons and an all-stars spin-off with last year’s wildly successful The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans, the Boulet Brothers say this is the start of a new era for Dragula.
“With Season 5, we are beginning a new and innovative new chapter of the show, and we’ve retooled and updated the format in an incredibly exciting way,” Dracmorda, half of the show’s titular couple, said in a press release.
What will those updates look like? Though the cast of drag monsters has yet to be announced, it promises to be the most diverse group in the show’s history, bringing grotesque drag artists from around the world together to show off their horror, filth, and glamor in a brutal competition.
“We’re going back to basics with the format, and focusing on the competition element of the show, the incredible artists that we’ve cast and the out-of-this-world looks they create each week, and of course, drag artists doing insanely terrifying and shocking physical challenges on TV,” said Swanthula, the other Boulet Brother. “This is the best-looking season of the show yet, and I can’t wait for fans to see these new competitors. They are truly the most impressive drag artists I have ever seen on-screen.”

Season 5 will also bring a roster of guest judges from across the world of horror, including director Mike Flanagan, known for Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House; writer/director Kevin Smith, the man behind the nightmarish Tusk; musician Jazmin Bean, whose makeup looks are as metal as their music; and Matthew Lillard, star of the Scream franchise — plus many more new faces that have yet to be announced.
Returning guest judges will include actor David Dastmalchian and author Tananarive Due. The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula Season 3 winner Landon Cider will also serve as the series’ first recurring judge, popping up on the panel throughout the season, with former contestants like Victoria Elizabeth Black, Dahli, and Koco Caine also making appearances.

“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with The Boulet Brothers to bring Shudder subscribers an all-new season of their beloved Dragula, which is set to be bigger and more outrageous than ever,” said Courtney Thomasma, AMC Networks’ Executive Vice President of Streaming. “Can’t think of a better way to celebrate Halloween — one of our very favorite days of the year — and to keep the season alive and the party going for the rest of the year!”
Halloween can’t come soon enough.
