A manipulative cult leader and her decades-younger apprentice with major sexual tension? We’ve never been more seated.
We’re speaking, of course, about Sirens, a new dark comedy series coming soon to Netflix. The movie stars Julianne Moore as Michaela, that aforementioned quasi-cult leader, whose luxurious lifestyle is like a drug to impressionable young Simone, played by House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock. When Simone’s sister Devon, played by White Lotus standout Meghann Fahy, crashes Michaela’s seaside estate to intervene, chaos ensues.
That synopsis is already enticing, but it’s the chemistry between Moore and Alcock that has the sapphic internet fired up. In one scene from the Sirens trailer, the two check each other’s breath, before Michaela insists that Simone take the gum straight from her mouth. It’s unclear if the pair’s relationship will cross from too-close coworkers to bonafide lovers — but either way, the potential for some toxic age-gap yuri is more than enough to make us tune in.

Some fans couldn’t help but point out that, given Moore’s history with playing gay on screen, casting her as a seductive, hopefully sapphic cult leader makes perfect sense. Moore’s roles in shows and movies like Chloe, The Hours, Freeheld, and Mary & George have all led up to this moment, and we can’t wait to see it.
