Chasten Buttigieg, the husband of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, was among those raising an eyebrow at comments made by JD Vance yesterday.

“The most important thing is not that we agree on 100% of the issues, it’s that we have a person of character and courage under fire in the Oval Office,” said Vance, Donald Trump’s Vice President pick.

Vance was talking about Trump surviving two recent assassination attempts. He went on to criticize Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

He called Harris, “A woman who is so afraid of the American media ― the friendly media ― that she won’t even do an interview.”

Ironically, Harris was giving an interview to MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle at around the same time as Vance addressed a crowd in Traverse City, Michigan.

Vance’s suggestion that Donald Trump was a “person of character” was instantly mocked online.

Chasten Buttigieg reposted a clip of Vance speaking and quoted Donald Trump’s infamous leaked recording before the 2016 election. It was the one in which he boasted about grabbing women.

Many agreed that Trump’s “character” is not the type that should be anywhere near the White House. Predictably, Buttigieg’s tweet also triggered plenty of vile homophobic comments from MAGA types.

Others suggested that JD Vance’s words could be taken as an endorsement for… Kamala Harris.

Ukraine

Besides attempting to persuade everyone that Donald Trump is a man of character, Vance was also asked to share Trump’s detailed plan for bringing peace to Ukraine.

Vance said they’d do it by, “not being weak and dumb.”

That lacking-in-detail response also prompted plenty of clapback online.
