Winning re-election to the White House last month has not dampened Donald Trump’s thirst for selling tacky merchandise. After the NFTs, Bibles, watches and sneakers, a new cologne from Trump, entitled ‘Fight Fight Fight’, has left the internet holding its collective noses in disgust.

Priced at an eye-watering $199, the scent is described as a “bold new fragrance from Trump Fragrances. For Patriots who never back down, like President Trump. This scent is your rallying cry in a bottle. Featuring Trump’s iconic image and raised fist, this limited-edition cologne embodies strength, power, and victory.”

The packaging features an image similar to the photos of Trump after the assassination attempt he survived in July in Pennsylvania. There’s a cologne for men and an eau de parfum for women.

Trump’s fragrance history

This is not the first time Trump has flogged fragrances. In the early 00s, he launched his first scent, Donald Trump, The Fragrance, in partnership with Estee Lauder. More scents, Empire, and Success, followed (and all later discontinued).

Trump’s recent fragrance outings have not been in conjunction with such well-known brands as Estee Lauder. Earlier this year, he peddled Victory cologne. The bottle cap was a gold bust of Trump’s head. The sales website said the $119 scent was aimed at “the movers, the shakers, and the history makers … splash on a bit of Victory and own every room you step into.”

Victory has now sold out, leaving just the more expensive Fight Fight Fight available.

Online, many speculated over the specifics of the aroma.

Others suggested “McDonald’s and urine”, “dirty diapers”, and “Sweat and melting make-up”.

Some people expressed disgusted at how Trump seeks to capitalize on an assassination attempt which left others dead.

What else might Trump sell?

The Guardian reports that Trump has made around $399,000 from his sneakers and $300,000 from his Bibles. Clearly, he knows there’s a market for this kind of stuff.

On a more serious note, political observers have expressed concerns about what else Trump may be tempted to sell.

Rahm Emanuel is a former aide to former President Obama and current U.S. ambassador to Japan. In a talk with Ezra Klein on the New York Times this week, Emanuel warned, “Donald Trump is going to turn the Oval Office into eBay,” Emanuel said. “He is going to sell it to every special interest, and you’re going to be left paying that tab.”

Emanuel said Democrats may find themselves working hard to ensure pharmaceutical companies are not granted unchecked privileges after they lobby Trump.

“The Oval Office will become eBay. And whoever pays the highest price will get what they want, and you’ll be left paying through the nose.”
