Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz was already a nightmare for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign — but leave it to his running mate JD Vance to make a bad situation even worse.
After Trump and Harris’ debate on Tuesday evening, pop star Swift took to Instagram with a much awaited statement on how she’ll be voting in November.
I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift wrote in a post that’s since amassed more than 10 million likes. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
She shouted out her favorite things about Walz, too: “I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” she continued.

Swift signed her post with a dig at one of Vance’s most infamous faux pas, declaring herself a “Childless Cat Lady,” part of the demographic Vance said was ruining America in a 2021 Fox News interview.

Vance responded to Swift’s statement with another Fox interview (because those always go so well for him). In an attempt to downplay the impact of Swift’s endorsement, Vance chose to come for — of all things — her wealth and celebrity status.
“We admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans — whether they like her music, are fans of her’s, or not — are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans,” he said.
Hmmm, does that description ring any bells? Vance may not have realized that the phrases “billionaire celebrity” and “disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans” are apt descriptors for his running mate. (Then again, during the debate, Trump admitted he and Vance hadn’t talked about one of the campaign’s most important issues, so who could blame Vance for not knowing much about the guy?)
Regardless, the internet appreciated the chance to dunk on Vance for yet another of his countless foot-in-the-mouth moments. If there’s nothing else to look forward to leading up to the election, at we’ll get to see him crash and burn on the campaign trail.

Wait, wait, I know one of those, orange guy, very rapey… don't tell me, it'll come to me!
Once again I say JD Vance has a knack for accidentally delivering the most spot on critical assessments of Trump.
