On Monday, David Hogg and Cameron Kasky, two Parkland students who have become leaders in the national gun control movement, stirred the internet’s queer hearts when Kasky released a picture of the two with the caption “Prom 2018.”

People automatically began to ship the two students. But in a new report fromTMZ, Hogg’s mother, Rebecca Boldrick, said that her son has another date for the prom, and clarified that the photo was taken as part of a shoot for U2’s RED campaign that happened on Monday.
Kasky’s father, Jeff Kasky, told TMZ that the two love each other very much “but not in a romantic type of way.”
According tosome news outlets, Kasky is openly gay while Hogg is straight.
The Sun-Sentinelreports thatthe Stoneman Douglas prom committee decided to throw an elaborate, over-the-top prom to celebrate this year’s senior class, which willinclude a memorial to those seniors who were killed in the Feb. 14 shooting.
