“Hi everybody. So there’s a saying for the active alcoholic or drug addict that the trajectory of the life course has three possible outcomes: A) jail, B) institutions or C) death,” Katya said in the video. “Unfortunately, I find myself squarely and firmly and quite uncomfortably in the B camp right now.”
Katya assured fans that missed tour dates would be reschedule and lost funds would be “rectified,” but that she had to work on her health first.
“But in an effort to make things good with you in the future, I’ve got to make things good for me right now,” Katya added. “So, rest assured that any rescheduled dates or potential loss of money will be rectified as swiftly and competently as possible. I’ve got to swiftly and competently rectify my ass right now. So thank you so much for your patience and compassion, and I hope that you have a wonderful day.”
Fans and Drag Race alumni flocked to Katya’s post to share support. Season nine contestant Peppermint thanked Katya for her honesty and sent her “love and support, while All Stars season 5 winner Shea Couleé thanked her for “being brave enough to share with us and tackle this obstacle face on.” Whereas season twelve competitor and Drag Race France host Nicky Doll reminded Katya that “you got this baby.”
After her placing fifth on Drag Race season 7 and being a runner up on season two of All Stars, Katya found immense success collaborating with Trixie. Aside from their popular webseries UNHhhh, podcast Bald and the Beautiful, the duo also cowrote Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood and created the Netflix produced I Like to Watch. Additionally, Katya has appeared in films and TV shows, including Hurricane Bianca 2, Trixie Motel, Ziwe, and Love, Victor, and recently launched the Grindr podcast Who’s the A**hole.
